Cletus Eugene Richard December 31, 1935 - October 28, 2023
Cletus "Gene" Eugene Richard, age 87, passed away on October 28, 2023. He was born on December 31, 1935, to the late Johnny Franklin Richard and Addie Belle Watts Richard.

He is survived by his devoted wife, LuEllen Poole Richard, who was by his side at the time of his passing. Gene is also survived by his two loving sons, Chad Richard (Renee) and Drew Richard, as well as his four cherished grandchildren, Coleman, Nicholas, Kaitlyn, and Hannah Richard.

Gene dedicated a significant portion of his life to his career at Burlington Industries, where he worked in management before retiring. His dedication and leadership were evident throughout his professional journey.

In addition to his career, Gene was a faithful member of First Baptist Church of Welcome, where he found solace and community. He was a proud veteran, having served in the United States Army, and he carried his sense of duty and commitment with him throughout his life.

One of Gene's greatest joys was the simple pleasure of fishing. He found peace and contentment by the water's edge, and his passion for fishing created lasting memories for him and those fortunate enough to join him.

A celebration of Gene's life will take place on Friday, November 3, 2023, at 3 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Welcome, with a visitation for family and friends one hour prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorials be made in Gene's honor to either First Baptist Church of Welcome or Hospice of Davidson County.

The staff at Davidson Funeral Home Hickory Tree Chapel is honored to be of service to the Richard family during this difficult time. Gene's memory will live on in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing him, and his legacy will continue to bring comfort and inspiration to those he leaves behind.
