Jack Brantley Merritt September 25, 1936 - December 03, 2022
Jack Brantley Merritt, 86, a resident of the Welcome Community, passed away Saturday, December 3, 2022 in Olin Village Assisted Living. He was born in Davidson County to the late Clyde Roosevelt and Winnie Ellen Everhart Merritt on September 25, 1936. He worked for AT&T Communications for many years. Jack was known for his quick wit and dry sense of humor, he always had a positive outlook and was willing to lend a helping hand to anyone who needed it. He enjoyed fixing things and was an animal lover, especially his dogs. Jack was a member of Bethesda United Methodist Church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Jimmy Merritt; and his sister, Peggy White.

A funeral service will be held Thursday, December 8, 2022 at 3:00 PM at Bethesda United Methodist Church. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will greet friends prior to the service beginning at 2:00PM. Left behind to cherish Jack’s memory is his daughter, Sandra Capps (Bill) of Fort Mill, SC; a son, Jason Merritt (Raquel) of Concord; a sister-in-law, Deanna Merritt of Welcome; grandchildren, Holden Capps and Lucia Merritt Steelman; great-granddaughter, Serena Steelman; and several nieces and nephews.
