Becky Carol Davis Hege, 77, of Joe Hege Road, Clemmons, passed away at her home, on October 17, 2023, surrounded by her loving family and friends, after years of declining health and a lengthy battle with Alzheimer’s.

Becky was born July 26, 1946, in Tyro, NC to Hazel Davis. She was a 1964 graduate of West Davidson High School. Following high school, she studied and gained her certification as a medical assistant in Washington, DC. Becky worked briefly as a medical assistant before marrying Joe Michael “Mike” Hege on June 24, 1967. For many years, Becky enjoyed her position as a farm wife, homemaker, and stay-at-home mother. In 1986, Becky accepted a full-time position as a teacher assistant with Davidson County Schools, where she worked and influenced numerous children for 26 years at Northwest Elementary School. In addition to her employment, Becky faithfully volunteered her time with 4-H, the A-RC-H Fire and Rescue Ladies Auxiliary, a Sunday school teacher and children’s choir director, as well as a member of the church choir at Good Hope Methodist Church, where she was a faithful member until her illness rendered her unable to attend regularly. Becky was preceded in death by her beloved sister, Vera Davis Walser, mother, Hazel Davis Leonard, and beloved nephew, Rodney Walser.

Left to cherish her memory is her husband of 56 years, Mike Hege; a son, Neil Hege, and his wife Ann of Clemmons and a daughter, Marsha Essick, and her husband Dustin of High Point. Also left to cherish a lifetime of memories made with their beloved “Mamaw” are her granddaughters, Morgan Hege, Reese Essick, Baleigh Hege, and Grasyn Essick; a brother, Craig Leonard (Ellen); nephew, Coleman Leonard (Kailey); brother-in-law, Ralph Walser; sister-in-law, Linda Leonard; and nieces, Amy Leonard and Tina Ledford.
A celebration of Becky’s life will be held on Sunday, October 22, 2023, at Good Hope Methodist Church at 3:00 PM, with the Reverend Johnny Lord, officiating. A burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive family and friends on Saturday, October 21 at Davidson Funeral Home, Hickory Tree location from 6:00 - 8:00 PM, and at other times at the family home at 774 Joe Hege Road.

The family would like to give a special thanks to Becky’s loving caregivers who selflessly cared for her during the course of her illness, Darlene Whitley, Hope Thompson, Penny Prevette, and Crystal Jones, as well as the staff of Trellis Supportive Care, Davie office.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Good Hope Methodist Church, Trellis Supportive Care, the Alzheimer’s Association, or the charity of the donor’s choice.

The staff of Davidson Funeral Home Hickory Tree Chapel is honored to be serving the Hege family during this difficult time.
