Ralph Simmons July 03, 1949 - October 10, 2023
Ralph Simmons, age 74, passed away peacefully at his home in Lexington, NC gaining his wings on Tuesday, October 10, 2023.

He chose to donate his body to science and then be cremated. A memorial service and spreading of his ashes will be determined at a later date.

Ralph was born in Sampson County July 3, 1949. to Ralph Edward Simmons and Edna Hood Simmons. He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife; Norma Simmons, sister; Verbie Jordan, brother; Donald Simmons, and his son; Mark Simmons.

Surviving are his son; Brian Simmons (Nichola), step daughters; Recca Morgan (Mark), Denise Eddleman (Monty), grandchildren; Morgan Ashley Simmons (23 yrs. old), Riley Ann Simmons (20 yrs. old), Anna Jolene Simmons (15 yrs. old), Christian Morgan (Tanya), US Army Intelligence Analyst Sergeant Sage Morgan, and John Garin Eddleman (15 yrs. old). Also surviving are his sister-in-law Susan Reid Simmons, and numerous nieces and nephews and grand nieces and nephews, all who were very dear to him.

He served his country honorably in the US Army. Ralph served three tours of duty in the Vietnam War as a gunner on a medivac helicopter. During his service he received 9 medals and various awards. He was a cancer survivor and survivor of complications from Agent Orange. Ralph was a devout Christian who loved his country and had a heart of gold. He retired as a long haul truck driver. Ralph had a wonderful sense of humor, was always extremely humble, and would help anyone in need. To some he was called “Butch”, “Uncle Butch”, and “Papa Ralph”. Without a doubt, he was greeted in Heaven by all who have gone before him including his beloved Foxy the pomeranian.
Matthew 25:23 “His master replied, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share your master’s happiness!’
