Tommy Sowers February 12, 1935 - October 19, 2023
On Thursday, October 19, 2023, our beloved Tommy Franklin Sowers embarked on his final journey to be with his Lord and Savior. His earthly sojourn came to a peaceful close at Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist Hospital in Winston Salem. Tommy's life, characterized by love, faith, and devotion, has left an indelible mark on the hearts of those who were privileged to know him.

A graveside service will be held at 4 pm on Monday, October 23, 2023, at the First Baptist Church of Welcome Cemetery on Center Church Road, with Pastor Jimmy Truell officiating. Following the service, the family will receive friends at the cemetery, sharing stories and memories of a life well-lived.

Tommy Franklin Sowers was born on February 12, 1935, in Davidson County, a gift to his parents, Conard Ray Sowers and Precious Lila Jenkins Sowers. He lived a life marked by dedication, service, and unwavering faith. Tommy served as a Supervisor at AT&T, where his strong work ethic and leadership made a lasting impact. Tommy was a faithful member of the First Baptist Church of Welcome, where he found solace, purpose, and a loving community of believers. His dedication to his faith was a cornerstone of his life, and he exemplified the principles of love, kindness, and compassion that define a true man of God. Tommy's joys in life were simple and profound. He relished the great outdoors, spending hours on his mower and tending to his beloved garden. His greatest joys, however, were the moments shared with his cherished grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Their laughter and love filled his heart with immeasurable happiness.
Tommy Franklin Sowers was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, Virginia Leonard Sowers, his brother Marion Sowers (Annie), and his sisters, Jean Mosley (Joe), Doris Davis (Joe), and Peggy Darr (Carey). While he has departed this world, he is reunited with them in the embrace of eternity.

Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 53 years, Rose Mary Kimmer Sowers, who stood by his side through all of life's joys and challenges. He is also survived by his children, Danny Sowers (Dianne), Tonya Jarvis Hutchins, Sonya Link (Kevin), and Chad Sowers (Christa). Their lives bear witness to the enduring legacy of love and family that Tommy nurtured. Tommy's grandchildren, Tabetha DeLapp (Randy), Carrie Lanier (Joe), Nick Jarvis (Ginger), Candace Kiser, Leah Boss (Brendan), and Andrew Sowers, were his pride and joy. He delighted in their accomplishments and shared in their dreams. Furthermore, he leaves a precious gift in his great-grandchildren, Meghan DeLapp, Landon Lanier, Kendyll Lanier, Gentry Smith, Avery Jarvis, Jackson Kiser, and Railyn Kiser, who will carry forward his love and legacy.

The family wishes to express their deep gratitude to Trellis Supportive Care, Lexington Dialysis Center, and the dedicated staff of the Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist Nephrology Department. Their compassion and care during Tommy's journey were a source of comfort and support.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial contributions be made to the Senior Friends of First Baptist Church of Welcome at 404 Welcome Arcadia Road, Lexington, NC 27295, a reflection of Tommy's commitment to his faith community.

Tommy Franklin Sowers leaves behind a legacy of love, faith, and devotion that will continue to inspire and uplift those who knew him. As we bid farewell to his earthly presence, his only final request was that everyone be saved, we take comfort in the knowledge that he has found his eternal home with the Lord, where he will know peace and joy forevermore.
