Sam Snyder May 20, 1943 - November 05, 2021
Samuel Lanier Snyder, 78, of US Highway 64 West in Lexington, passed away after a protracted battle with COVID on Friday, November 5, 2021 at Lexington Medical Center. There will be no public services.
Sam was born on May 20, 1943 to Garlan Byard Snyder and Thelma Lanier Snyder on a small tobacco farm in western Davidson County. He received an Associate’s Degree from Brevard Junior College and studied at Wake Forest University. He spent much of his career at Lexington Furniture Industries as the Personnel Manager and the Director of Benefits. He was known by so many people due to his job of “hiring and firing” at one of the largest employers in the area. In addition to his demanding full-time job, he continued to farm on a small scale his entire life. He also had a long tenure on the Board of Directors of Piedmont Telephone Membership Corporation. He enjoyed woodworking, reading, and learning about the lineage of just about every person he met.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Sarah Everhart, and his daughter, Beth Brooks.

He is survived by his wife, Kaye Snyder, of the home; his brother, Dennis Snyder, of Thomasville; his son, Bud Snyder, of Lexington; and four grandchildren: Zeb Snyder, Samantha Snyder, Owen Snyder, and Baili Brooks.
