Larry Stokes Sink May 3, 1952 - June 2, 2025 |
Larry Stokes Sink, age 73, of Lexington, NC, passed away peacefully on June 2, 2025, at the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice House, surrounded by the love of his family.
Born May 3, 1952 in Lexington to the late Ruby Koontz Sink and Stokes Gilmer Sink, Larry was a 1970 alumnus of Lexington Senior High School. It was there, at just 17, that he met the love of his life, Pam Williams. Their story is one of true devotion—high school sweethearts who were each other’s first and only loves. Larry and Pam married shortly after his graduation from North Carolina State University, where he earned his degree in mechanical engineering following studies at Davidson County Community College. On August 10th, they would have celebrated 50 years of wedded bliss.

Larry’s professional life was marked by dedication and expertise. He worked at Eckle Container, Duracell Battery, and finally retired from Lorillard Tobacco. His colleagues remember him as a wealth of knowledge, always ready with a solution or a story.
Larry’s greatest joy came from his family and the adventures they shared. He was a devoted husband, a loving father to Mark Sink and his wife Katie, and Carey Paige and her husband Justin and a cherished brother to Chester Sink and wife Marjorie. Larry was also a beloved uncle to David Yarborough and wife Tracy, Michael Sink and wife Brandy, Virginia Roberts and husband Frank, Hannah Yarborough and husband Eli, and Lainie Raines and husband Austyn; and a dear nephew to Betty Flake Sink. He leaves behind many wonderful cousins, friends, and church members who will miss his infectious smile, mischievous grin, and captivating stories.
A man of deep faith, Larry was active at New Hope Presbyterian Church, where he taught Sunday School and served as a member of the church session. He loved sharing his knowledge of history, his passion for storytelling, and his gentle wisdom with all who knew him.
Larry found peace and happiness outdoors—boating and fishing with his brother Chester, hiking and camping with his children, and tending to the family farmland in Tyro, NC. He also enjoyed annual trips to MerleFest, where music and laughter filled the air. Larry especially cherished many adventures and trips filled with love, laughter, and memories with his beloved Pam.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents, Ruby and Stokes Sink. He is survived by his beloved wife Pam, his children and their spouses, his brother and sister-in-law, his nieces and nephews, his aunt, and a wide circle of extended family and friends.
The family will receive friends and loved ones at the home of Carey and Justin Paige. A memorial service to celebrate Larry’s remarkable life will be held at New Hope Presbyterian Church at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to New Hope Presbyterian Church in Lexington or the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice House in Winston-Salem.
Larry’s legacy is one of love, laughter, and unwavering devotion to family and faith. His stories, his smile, and his spirit will live on in all who knew and loved him.
