Barbara Sue Wood August 25, 1949 - June 11, 2025 |
Barbara Sue Wood, 75, of Lexington, passed away on Wednesday, June 11, 2025, at Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center in Winston Salem. Born on August 25, 1949, in Davidson County, she was the daughter of John Andrew Wood and Lena Casey Wood.
Barbara dedicated her career to the furniture industry, working for Lexington Furniture Industries and Councill Craftsmen Furniture. She was a devoted member of Deep-Water Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, J.D. Wood, her brothers Floyd Wood and Robert Lee Wood, her half-brother Dollie Edmond Wood, and her sister Janie Wood.

Eddie Jason Short, aged 67, of Bringle Ferry Rd., Denton, passed away on Thursday, June 12, 2025, at Randolph Hospice House in Asheboro. Born on September 8, 1957, in McDowell County, WV, he was the son of Jason Short and Mary Louise England Short.
Eddie dedicated his career to the furniture industry, working as a machine operator. He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Shelby Ann Adams Short, and his brothers, Herbert Stevie Short, Walter Glenn Short, Timmy Darrell Short, and Mark Short.

Born on November 22nd 1962, Tammie was a beloved and devoted daughter, sister, aunt, wife and friend to many. She lived a life marked by kindness, strength, integrity and love for her family. She touched the lives of many with her warmth and unwavering love.

Zana Mae Leonard Phillips, age 92, of Lexington, NC, peacefully passed away on Friday, June 6th, 2025. Born in North Carolina on Wednesday, February 15th, 1933, Zana lived a life filled with love, dedication, and service to her community and family.
A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Zana is survived by three cherished sons: Ricky Dean Phillips and his wife Kim, Victor Kent Phillips and his wife Sherri, and Ronald Lynn Phillips and his wife Lori. Zana was also the proud grandmother to four grandsons Jason, Christopher, Cameron, and Bradley and a loving great-grandmother to Jaxson and another on the way. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews.

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Melody Mahan, 46, loving daughter, devoted friend, and cherished colleague. Melody passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 31st, 2025, in her hometown of Lexington, North Carolina.
Born on Thursday, May 24th, 1979, Melody brightened the lives of all who knew her with her kind heart and generous spirit. She was the beloved daughter of Norman and Jo Ann Mahan, who survive her. Together, they created a home filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories.

Larry Stokes Sink, age 73, of Lexington, NC, passed away peacefully on June 2, 2025, at the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice House, surrounded by the love of his family.
Born May 3, 1952 in Lexington to the late Ruby Koontz Sink and Stokes Gilmer Sink, Larry was a 1970 alumnus of Lexington Senior High School. It was there, at just 17, that he met the love of his life, Pam Williams. Their story is one of true devotion—high school sweethearts who were each other’s first and only loves. Larry and Pam married shortly after his graduation from North Carolina State University, where he earned his degree in mechanical engineering following studies at Davidson County Community College. On August 10th, they would have celebrated 50 years of wedded bliss.
