Sandra Turner Penninger August 10, 1947 - November 17, 2022
Sandra Kaye Turner Penninger, 75, formerly of HWY 64, Lexington, NC passed away on Thursday, Nov. 17, 2022, at Novant Health Forsyth Medical Center.

A private family memorial service will be held later.

Sandra was born in Sanford, FL on August 10, 1947, the daughter of the late John Turner and Mary Shue Turner. She was of the Baptist faith and had worked in the food service industry as a restaurant manager. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Judy A. Turner

She is survived by her daughter, Melissa Murph Crowell of Lexington; brother, Mike Turner of Iron Station, NC; 2 grandchildren, Terry Alan Scercy of Concord and Casey Christine Scercy of Lexington; 2 great-grandchildren, Miles Alan Scercy and Aleczander Robinson.

Virginia “Jenny” Carol Dunigan Sarks, 76, of New Hope Rd., Denton, NC went to her heavenly home on Thursday, Nov. 17, 2022.

A funeral service will be held 4:00 PM Sunday, Nov. 20, 2022, at Calvary Gospel Church conducted by Rev. Don Jarrell. A graveside service will be held 2:00 PM on Tuesday, Nov. 22, at Kanawha Valley Memorial Gardens in Glasgow, WV conducted by Rev. Colton Ferrell.

Jenny was born in War, WV, on October 28, 1946, to Ralph Dunigan and Elsie Dunigan. She was a member of Calvary Gospel Church and had worked in the food service industry. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by a grandson, Remington Wyatt Ferrell; and by siblings, Ernest England, Freida Dunigan, Jimmy Dunigan, Roy Dunigan, Sue Hicks, and Violenne Sharkey.

Left to cherish her memory are son, Roger Sarks and wife Kimberly of Denton; daughter, Melinda Ferrell and husband Roy of WV; brother, James Dunigan of OH; 4 grandchildren, Taylor Sarks (Isabella) of Albemarle, Colton Ferrell of WV, Kori Haltom (Mark) of Denton, and Ali Ross (Jake) of WV; 2 great-grandchildren, Bodey and Brynley Haltom.

Christina Leigh Anne Swing February 16, 1967 - November 17, 2022
Christina Leigh Anne Craver Swing, 55, of Lexington, passed away at her home.



No formal services will be held at this time.



Mrs. Swing was born February 16, 1967, in Davidson County to Paul Nelson Craver and Jo Ann Beeker Craver. She enjoyed spending time with her family; and her fur-babies, Champ, Bambi, and Scooter. In addition to her parents, Christina was preceded in death by one brother, Paul Nelson Craver Jr.; and one sister, Cindi Craver Michael.



Left to cherish her memory is her husband, Stewart Scott Swing of the home; one son, Shawn Swing (Cheyenne) of Lexington; one daughter, Ashley Craver Warren (Phillip) of Lexington; two sisters, Cathy Misenheimer of Linwood, and Cherrill Sowers (Jonathan) of Welcome; and three grandchildren, Opi Swing, Cooper Swing, and Hattie Warren.

Ruth Hedrick November 17, 2022
Ruth Ellen Moore Hedrick, 84, of Lexington, passed away November 17, 2022, at Hinkle Hospice House in Lexington.

A celebration of her life will be held at 2:00 pm Sunday 20, 2022, at Beck’s Reformed Church, where she was a member, with the Rev. Paul Perkins officiating, burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 pm Saturday night at the funeral home, and other times at the home on Rhodes Rd.

Ruth was born January 20, 1938, in Davidson County, to Edgar and Pearly Hughes Moore. Ruth was a devoted member of the church and the church family; she enjoyed traveling, crotchet, and quilting. Her passion was her faith, church, family and especially her grandchildren. Ruth was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister, who will be missed by all.

Left to cherish her memories are her husband of 56 years, Herbert Odell Hedrick Sr. of the home, son, Herbert Odell Hedrick Jr., and wife Karen, her daughter, Trish Jenkins and husband John, all of Lexington; Her three grandchildren, Jeni Shilwell and husband Seth, Herbert Odell Hedrick III “Trey” wife Callie, Jordan Chase Hedrick and wife Brooke, four great grandchildren, Ella Stilwell, Hannah Hedrick, Hadley Ruth Hedrick, and Deacon Hedrick. Also surviving are her brothers, Arthur Moore and wife Fran of North Myrtle Beach, SC, Ralph Moore and wife Sandy of Asheboro, sister, Libby Moore of Thomasville.

Sue Cody Russell May 02, 1945 - November 16, 2022
Sue Cody Russell, 77, of Old HWY 109, Lexington, NC passed away on Wednesday, November 16, 2022, at Hinkle Hospice House.

A funeral service will be held 2:00 PM on Saturday, Nov. 19, at Briggs Funeral Home Memorial Chapel conducted by Suzanne McCorkell and Rev. Chris Smith. Interment will follow at Denton Town Cemetery.

Mrs. Russell was born May 2, 1945, in Davidson County to John Hollis Cody and Nell Lloyd Cody. She was of the nondenominational Christian Faith in Cid. Sue graduated from Ashmore Business College and had worked in administration for Burlington Industries. Sue had a deep love for the arts, she enjoyed painting, scrapbooking, and doing crafts. Sewing, knitting, and flowers especially yellow roses were also some of her of favorite things. One of the many qualities Sue had was that she never met a stranger and she had a great love for her family and especially her grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Jane Cody Carrick.

Mary Helen Burkhart August 30, 1933 - November 15, 2022
Mary Helen Morgan Burkhart, 89, of Lexington passed away Tuesday, November 15, 2022, at Brookstone Retirement Home. A graveside service will be 11:00 am Saturday, November 19, 2022, at Grace Alliance Church Cemetery conducted by Pastor Tim Higgs. The family will see friends from 10-11 am prior to the graveside in the church.

Ms. Burkhart was born August 30, 1933, in Davidson County to James Matthew Morgan and Letha Elliott Morgan. She was the retired owner/operator of Morgan’s Inc. in Lexington. Her parents and husband, Arvil Wilson Burkhart preceded her in death. She was a member of Grace Alliance Church.
