Jane Elmore October 25, 1935 - November 15, 2022
Elizabeth Jane Goforth Elmore of Reeds went to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, November 15, 2022, following a brief illness.



A memorial service will be held at 11 am on Saturday, November 19, 2022, at Shiloh United Methodist Church on Highway 150 with the Rev. Ryan Mendenhall officiating. Inurnment will follow in the Church Columbarium.



The family will receive friends from 10 am until 11 am prior to the service in the Family Life Center.



Jane was born October 25, 1935, to Charles and Mary Schenck Goforth of Kings Mountain, NC. She was a graduate of Bethware High School and Appalachian State Teacher’s College, where she earned a Master’s degree and Educational Specialist degree.

Tammy McCarson December 10, 1969 - November 15, 2022
Tammy Copley McCarson, 52 a resident of Lexington, passed away Tuesday, November 15, 2022 at her residence. Tammy was born in Rowan County on December 10, 1969 to Steve and Kathy Copley. She graduated from Lexington Senior High School and worked as a waitress for many years. Tammy loved being with her family, friends, and cats, Taz and Lily. She was preceded in death by her mother

A memorial service will be held by the family at a later date.

Rachel Lorene Thompson August 17, 1942 - November 13, 2022
Rachel Lorene McAbee Thompson, 80, of Mocksville, passed away Sunday, November 13, 2022, at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home in Winston-Salem.

A funeral service will be at 2 PM Friday, November 18, 2022, at the Davidson Funeral Home Chapel, by the Rev. Jimmy Garrett. Burial will follow at Forest Hill Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Mrs. Thompson was born August 17, 1942, to James Grady McAbee and Thelma Louise Whiteside McAbee. She had worked as a waitress at Little Richard’s Barbecue in Winston-Salem and was preceded in death by her daughter, Jean Michelle Thompson; her brothers, Robert McAbee, and Gene McAbee; and her sisters, Nellie Nifong and Esther Strickland.

Surviving are her children, Rita Smith of Mocksville, Lisa T. Chaffin (Rick) of Lexington, Scott Thompson (Sandra) of Winston Salem, and Kelly T. Schwartz of Lexington; eleven grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Chuck Eugene Rivers June 17, 1928 - November 12, 2022
McLaurin “Chuck” Eugene Rivers, of Thomasville, passed away Saturday, November 12, 2022, at Piedmont Crossing.



A funeral service will be held 11 AM Tuesday, November 15, 2022, at Fair Grove United Methodist Church with Rev. Bob Symanski officiating. Burial will take place on Wednesday, November 16, 2022, in Crocketville, SC.



The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service at the church.



Chuck Rivers, age 94 was born to Alma and Moss Rivers on June 17, 1928, in Hampton, SC. Upon High school graduation, he served four years with the US Army Corp of Engineers while stationed in Korea. After being discharged in 1952, he returned and wed Mary Evelyn Vernon. The same year, and under the GI Bill attended Clemson Agricultural College. With a Civil Engineering degree, he began his industrial engineering career with American Can Corp and International Paper Company in numerous locations in the southeastern states, Georgetown, SC, Little Rock, AK, Mobile, AL, St. Mary’s and Newnan, GA. In 1972 he joined Rex Plastic Inc and moved to Thomasville, NC until starting with Huntsman Chemical Corporation working in Harrington, DE and Sculthorpe, England. In retirement to Clemson, SC, he became an unofficial expert and commentator of all Clemson University sports. One final move brought him to Thomasville where he resided at Piedmont Crossing Retirement Community until this past Saturday.

Reggie “Ken” Poag, 58, of Lexington passed away on Sunday, November 13, 2022, at the Hinkle Hospice House.



A funeral service will be held at 2 pm on Tuesday, November 15, 2022, at Tyro United Methodist Church with Rev. Randy Foster officiating. Burial will follow at Bethel Cemetery.



The family will receive friends from 1 pm until 2 pm prior to the service at the church.



Ken was born on May 21, 1964, to James “Tommy” Poag and Evie Ann Bailey Poag. He was a member of Tyro United Methodist Church and was a loving son, brother, and grandfather whose memory will be cherished forevermore. In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Amanda Yort.

Born in Chatham County on March 17, 1944, she was the daughter of Eugene and Edith Faye Scott Ramey. She had worked at Label Line Incorporated in Denton. She was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Jerry and Beth Ramey.
