| Marion Docherty David May 22, 1940 — January 29, 2026 Lexington |
Marion David, a beloved wife, mother, and proud daughter of Scotland, passed away on January 29th, 2026, at the age of 85.
Born on May 22, 1940, in Glasgow, Scotland, she was one of four siblings. Her early years were spent in the rhythmic work of a bookbinder in a local factory, a testament to the work ethic she carried throughout her life. In 1972, she embarked on a new chapter by moving to America, where she married the love of her life, Oscar David Jr.
As a military spouse, she embraced a life of adventure, traveling to numerous states and countries alongside Oscar during his service in the United States Navy. After his retirement, the couple settled in Orlando, Florida, where she flourished professionally as a makeup artist and subcontractor for prestigious brands such as Revlon and Lancôme.
She never lost touch with her heritage. A dedicated member of the Rosie O'Grady Highland Band, she found joy and community playing both the tenor and bass drums. Her expertise and passion for Scottish tradition led her to serve as a judge at Highland Games across the country, ensuring the culture she loved so dearly continued to thrive.

Frederick Thomas Adkins was born in Goochland County, Virginia on January 24,1940. He was the son of Frederick Beacham Adkins and Hilda Bower Adkins who preceded him in death. In addition to his parents, he had two sisters, Doris Crowely and Adela Watlington who preceded him in death. He also had a Brother in law, Robert Lay Grubb and sister in law, Rochelle Grubb, who preceded him in death. He graduated from High School in Ithaca, NY and graduated from Virginia Commonwealth University with a Business Degree. His professional life included developer, estimator, home builder and inspector.

Theda Burkhart Smith passed away at Hinkle Hospice House in Lexington, North Carolina, on Wednesday, January 28, 2026, at the age of 95.
A native of Davidson County, Theda was born on Friday, March 14, 1930, the sixth of seven children of William Christopher Burkhart and Lillie Crotts Burkhart. Theda lived a full life, marked by kindness, dedication, and a deep love for her family and community.
Theda was a graduate of Davis Townsend School in 1948. During her grade school years, Theda was an outgoing student and athlete. She loved playing basketball and played varsity level basketball for five years throughout high school.

| Peggy Leatherman Adkins May 16, 1945 — January 26, 2026 Lexington |
Peggy Leatherman Adkins, age 80, went home to her Lord and Savior on January 26, 2026. She was born on May 16, 1945 in Lexington, North Carolina to the late Johnny Leatherman and Ruby Sink Leatherman (Goodnight). Peggy was a devoted member of Greater Vision Freewill Baptist Church. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
Peggy’s life exemplified a true reflection of Christ in her selfless interest considering others, (Philippians 2:4) often times ahead of her own.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Larry David Adkins.

Teresa (Terri) Michele Smith, 49, of Welcome, North Carolina passed away on January 14, 2026, at her home.
Terri was born in Rockwell, NC to Connie Smith and the late Shirley Hughes on May 27, 1976, and graduated from East Rowan High School in 1994. Terri worked as an office manager for ServPro of West Forsyth for nearly 15 years, and then as office manager for Rainbow Restoration of Winston-Salem.
Remaining to cherish Terri’s memory are her son, Logan Smith (Rachel); father, Connie Smith (Jennifer); brothers Christopher Hughes and Michael Hughes (Sabrena).

Melvin Lee James, 72, of Davidson County, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, January 24, 2026, at Atrium Health, in Winston-Salem.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 – 7:00 Monday, February 2, 2026, at Davidson Funeral Home, Lexington.
A funeral will be held the following day, Tuesday, February 3, 2026, at 11:00 AM, at the funeral home with Pastor Keith McGee officiating.
Burial will conclude services at Forest Hill Memorial Park.
