| Stephen Larry Wishon October 10, 1944 — November 22, 2025 Lexington |
It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Stephen Larry Wishon, 80, of Davidson County, passed away peacefully, Saturday, November 22, 2025, at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice House.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 – 2:00 PM, Saturday, November 29, 2025, at First Baptist Church of Welcome.
A funeral service will follow at 2:00 PM, at the church, with Rev. Mark Blair officiating.
Burial will conclude services in the church cemetery.
Stephen was born on December 12, 1944, in Elkin, NC, to the late Harrison Edward Wishon and Mary Ethel Carter Wishon. He proudly served his country in the Army and Navy, retiring after 20 years. Stephen then went on to work as a mechanic and retired from RJR.

Katherine "Mrs. Kathy" Ann Jordan Swaney, a beloved children's librarian and cherished member of her community, passed away peacefully at the age of 67 on Sunday, November 23, 2025, at Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center in Winston Salem. Born on June 13, 1958, in Horry County, South Carolina, she dedicated her life to fostering a love of reading among children.
Her passion for literature led her to a fulfilling career as a children's librarian at the Denton Public Library, where she became affectionately known as "Mrs. Kathy." Over the years, she participated in countless story hour programs, sharing her enthusiasm for books with many children who looked forward to her engaging storytelling and warm presence.
Kathy's nurturing nature extended beyond the library, as she was deeply invested in the lives of her family. She is survived by her devoted husband, Clinton Swaney. Together, they created a loving home that was filled with laughter and fond memories. Kathy leaves behind her son Christopher Ray (Emily), and her daughter Katrina Jordan (Bill). Her legacy continues with her cherished grandchildren: Gray, Allie, Mary, and Olivia, who brought immense joy to her life. She is also mourned by her brothers, Eddie "Buddy" Jordan and Kevin Mark Jordan, as well as her sister, Lila Jane Beal.

Rosemary Miller Campbell, 85, of Lexington, passed away peacefully Friday, November 21, 2025, at Forsyth Medical Center, with her family by her side.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 – 3:00, Wednesday, November 26, 2025, at Linwood UMC.
A Memorial service will follow at 3:00 in the church, with Rev. Cindy Ramirez officiating.
Interment will conclude services in the church cemetery.
Rosemary was born on January 31, 1940, in Davidson County, to the late Arnold Lee Miller Sr. and Annie Mae Feezor Miller. She worked for many years as a teacher’s assistant and bus driver for the Davidson County School System.

Gloria Jean Edwards Morrison, 80, of Davidson County, passed away peacefully on November 20, 2025. Born on November 11, 1945, in Grundy, Virginia, she was the daughter of the late Marian Arthur Edwards and Lydia Catherine Edwards.
Gloria is survived by her devoted husband, Jerry Mack Morrison, and her loving children: daughters Angel Hughes and Joann Houghton (Jesse); step-sons Tracy Morrison, Randy Morrison, and Wayne Morrison. She is also survived by her brothers Junior Edwards (Crickett), Estil Edwards (Gail), and Kenneth Edwards. Her legacy continues through her cherished grandchildren: Courtney McElroy (Brad), Anthony Rebello (Nichole), CJ “Troy” Lankford (Madeline), and Michael Rebello; as well as her adored great-grandchildren: Emma Rebello, Everest McElroy, and Jameson Lankford.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her son, Troy Curtis Lankford; her daughter, Cathy Lankford; and her sisters, Faye Barnes, Hazel Owens, and Elizabeth Byerly.

Michael Maclay Cummings, of Davidson County, passed away peacefully on November 19, 2025. Born on May 6, 1953, in Greene County, Ohio, he was the beloved son of the late Hanford Lindsley Cummings Jr. and Patricia Wortham Ryan.
A devoted educator, Michael dedicated much of his life to teaching and mentoring others. He served as a business finance and accounting professor at Salem College, where his passion for learning and compassion for students touched countless lives. Prior to that, he spent a decade as a professor at Barton College—formerly Atlantic Christian College—in Wilson, North Carolina. His colleagues remember him as a leader guided by integrity, patience, and genuine care for others.
Michael was a true lover of animals, and he had a special way of earning their trust and affection. He found peace and joy in the outdoors, whether walking along sandy beaches, exploring mountain trails, or setting up camp beneath a sky full of stars. More than anything, he treasured time spent with family. Those who knew him best will remember his warm heart, easy laughter, and remarkable ability to make friends wherever he went. He never met a stranger, only someone he had not yet welcomed into his circle.

Dennis Kent Leonard, 90, of Davidson County, passed away Tuesday evening, November 18, 2025, at his home.
A graveside service will be held at 2:30 PM, Sunday, November 23, 2025, at Hedrick’s Grove Church Cemetery, with Foster Carney officiating.
Dennis was born on October 8, 1935, in Davidson County, to the late Willie Hoyd and Maggie Yarborough Leonard. He retired from Proctor and Schwartz as a machinist. He loved fishing, hunting, woodworking, finding great yard sales and flea markets, but he especially loved spending time with his family.

| Gregory Lee Cannon April 4, 1959 — October 26, 2025 Lexington |
Gregory Lee Cannon was born on April 4, 1959 in Abilene, Texas to Lester Cannon and Sandra. This is where his father was stationed with the USAF. Shortly after they were transferred to Ramey Air Force Base in Puerto Rico. Later the family moved to Lexington, NC where he graduated from East Davidson High School. He loved his Harley and race cars.
He joined the Navy in May 1981 and was a radioman on a submarine. He was stationed in Charleston, SC, Kingsland, GA and Norfolk, VA. In the meantime, he married and had two beautiful daughters. Andrea and Heather. Greg served 20 years in the Navy and retired to Lexington, NC. He worked various jobs before he started driving 18 wheelers. He drove to California and back for many years. He passed away on Sunday, October 26, 2025 due to colon cancer and he believes he got cancer from conditions from the first sub, the USS Nathan Hale that he served on.
